The group that benefits from this problem, would be the powerhouse which is the transportation of San Diego. The article mentioned how private vehicles are more prevalent in individuals who completed a higher degree. If students continue taking public transportation and it hinders their ability to complete their education and get a stable career, this can lead to them always having to rely on public transit. This means that the transportation of San Diego benefits from low-income individuals like young students without jobs or personal vehicles, because it is likely that they will have to depend on public transportation in the long-term. Keeping public transportation running because of the “affordable” fares they charge students and their “cheap” discounts they offer.
