Group That Benefits From This Issue


     The group that benefits from this problem, would be the powerhouse which is the transportation of San Diego. The article mentioned how private vehicles are more prevalent in individuals who completed a higher degree. If students continue taking public transportation and it hinders their ability to complete their education and get a stable career, this can lead to them always having to rely on public transit. This means that the transportation of San Diego benefits from low-income individuals like young students without jobs or personal vehicles, because it is likely that they will have to depend on public transportation in the long-term. Keeping public transportation running because of the “affordable” fares they charge students and their “cheap” discounts they offer. However this is bad for students, because Inadequate Transportation describes how this transportation barrier can lead to a decline in academic achievements.

     The transportation of San Diego has been a persistent issue amongst SDSU students, not accommodating to their needs when it comes to physical and mental health. Analyzing Primary & Secondary Resources

     The primary and secondary source, both reveal that the transportation system inhibits students from being successful in pursuing their education because it can stop students from where they need to be in a timely manner, stop them from staying on campus to socialize with friends or attend office hours; all in all taking harmful effect on physical and mental health the longer students have to commute via public transportation. The article Transportation Challenges When it Comes to Students supports this by giving insight of how the transportation system isolates students from campus activities and being involved.

The Effect of Transportation System on Students & Evidence

  The effect of using negative language to describe the transit system, informs readers of the negatives of using public transit and how it does not support students’ education. It also reveals how the powerhouse, which would be the transit system in this context, needs to support students by improving their system to accommodate students' needs. In the interview with my interviewee, (D. Santiago, personal communication, March 11, 2026), he stated, “"I think it'll just be more inconvenient. So it wouldn't be harder in a sense, like, like, the material is harder, but it would just be like, worse on the amount of time you have, worse on the amount of time you have, yeah." (D.
