Persisting issue of San Diego Transportation system amongst SDSU Students
The transportation of San Diego has been a persistent issue amongst SDSU students, not accommodating to their needs when it comes to physical and mental health. Especially, when it comes to their education, which can physically and mentally drain students when it comes to the lengthy commutes which could have been used for studying. The site Public Transit Takes Toll on Students' Mental Health describes how unreliable transportation can cause mental health issues in students, from feeling stressed from assignments piling up from limited time to study. This is supported by my primary resource with my interviewee and a secondary resource, an article published by Schuette. A., “Transportation as a Barrier to Higher Education: Evidence from the 2022 Student Financial Wellness Survey,” (Schuette, A. (2023). The language around this problem can be perceived as negative. Especially when the title in the article includes, “barrier,” to describe transportation, insinuating that the transit system hinders students from pursuing their education and affects their health.
